Cryptic species of rockfishes (Sebastes: Scorpaenidae) in the Southern Hemisphere inferred from mitochondrial lineages
Article Abstract:
Mitochondrial DNA sequence variation of Sebastes was used to address systematic and evolutionary issues, relating to several species in the Southern Hemisphere. Results showed high levels of genetic differentiation amongst sampled populations, indicating limited gene flow. The existence of two differing lineages of austral Sebastes was also corroborated, and the existence of a third evolutionary lineage with high rates of genetic divergence, was abundant in the south-western Atlantic.

HinfI variation in mitochondrial DNA of old world honey bee subspecies
Article Abstract:
An analysis of HinfI and EcoRI variations in mitochondrial (mt) DNA among the endemic honey bee Apis mellifera subspecies indicates the presence of 20 different mtDNA haplotypes. The observations of European and African honey bees indicate that morphologically similar subspecies possess similar EcoRI but distinct HinfI haplotype. The distribution of mtDNA haplotypes enhances the resolution of relationships among specific racial groups.
