Dispersion and transport of Cryptosporidium Oocysts from fecal pats under simulated rainfall events

Article Abstract:

Cryptosporidium Oocysts that are present in animal fecal deposits are linked to increases in pathogen concentration in streams and reservoirs. Dispersion and transportation of Cryptosporidium oocysts from fecal pats were studied under simulated rainfall conditions and results are discussed and tabulated.

Development and preliminary evaluation of a loop-mediated isothermal amplification procedure for sensitive detection of Cryptosporidium oocysts in fecal and water samples

Article Abstract:

The development and evaluation of a loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) procedure for sensitive detection of Cryptosporidium oocysts in fecal and water samples is explained. The method can also be used for epidemiologic studies of Cryptosporidium.

Symbiont-induced changes in host actin during the onset of a beneficial animal-bacterial association

Article Abstract:

Symbiont-induced changes in actin cytoskeleton of the duct cells are examined and reported. Evidence that these changes may work in concert with other duct defenses to restrict entry into host tissues, is provided.
