Extremely halophilic Bacteria in crystallizer ponds from solar salterns
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on the high abandance and growth of hitherto-uncultured Bacteria from solar salterns. The provisional classification of this bacterial group has been proposed.

Prokaryotic diversity in Zostera moltii-colonized marine sediments
Article Abstract:
Bacterial diversity is very high in marine sediments from Southwest France that are dominated by the seagrass Zosstera noltii. Fifty-seven different 16S rDNA sequences were found, including eight major lineages of the Bacteria domain. Over 60% of the organisms were Proteobacteria.

Diversity of free-living and attached bacteria in offshore western Mediterranean waters as depicted by analysis of genes encodng 16S rRNA
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to examine the diversity of both free-living and attached bacteria found in three different depths of the Mediterranean through the sequencing of 16S rDNA clones. To analyze the morphology of cells collected on each filter, scanning electron microscopy was used. Results provide evidence that prokaryotic diversity in the open ocean varies according to depth especially for the first 100 m.
