Do polymorphic loci require large sample sizes to estimate genetic distances?
Article Abstract:
The coefficient of variation of estimates of three genetic distances (standard genetic distance of Nei, chord distance, F (sub ST)) was examined with computer simulation to determine the necessity of large samples(per population) to estimate genetic distances at loci with high levels of polymorphism. It showed that the loci with high mutation rates produce estimates of genetic distance with lower coefficients of variation than loci with lower mutation rates-without requiring larger sample sizes from each population.

Long-term stability of allozyme frequencies in a wood lemming, Myopus schisticolor, population with a biased sex ratio and density fluctuations
Article Abstract:
Wood lemming (Myopus schisticolor) populations are characterized by female biased sex ratios and cyclic variations in population size. However, both these characteristics are assumed to reduce genetic variation and thus affect the evolutionary adaptation of the species.

Estimating relatedness and relationships using microsatellite loci with null alleles
Article Abstract:
A new approach for estimating relatedness and relationships from data sets that include null alleles is presented. It shows that ignoring null alleles has a substantial impact on estimation of relatedness and inferences concerning population biology.
