Effect of captivity on genetic variance for five traits in the large milkweed bug (Oncopeltus fasciatus)

Article Abstract:

Understanding the changes in genetic variance which may occur as populations move from nature into captivity has been considered important when populations in captivity are used as models of wild ones. Captive population with small number of founders may contain substantial amounts of the evolvability found in nature, at least for some traits.

The conversion of variance and the evolutionary potential of restricted recombination

Article Abstract:

The genetic recombination is considered to facilitate adaptive evolution and it prevents the reliable cotransmission of interacting gene combination and can disrupt complexes of coadapted genes. The common variance in all the situations directed towards a more complete characterization of the relevance of variance to the evolutionary process

Comparing Bayesian estimates of genetic differentiation of molecular markers and quantative traits: An application to Pinus sylvestris

Article Abstract:

A Bayesian method for the estimation of the differentiation of the addictive genetic variance between populations is studied. The results reveal a bimodal posterior of QST that could not be compared with the unimodal posterior of the microsatellite FST.
