Enigmas of mammalian gamete form and function

Article Abstract:

Various aspects of gamete function and their interrelationships and the indications that the mechanism of fertilization in euthrian mammals differs in several important respects from those of other animals are described. Collective evidence suggests that many of the features reflect a new fertilization strategy or its consequences, with most being causally linked.

'O sibling, where art thou?' - a review of avian sibling recognition with respect to the mammalian literature

Article Abstract:

The avian and mammalian research on sibling recognition is compared to identify why avian work is rare, how approaches differ and what avian and mammalian researchers can learn from each other. In addition, exciting discoveries from recent studies of avian sibling recognition that inspire further interest are reported.

Mammal invaders on islands: impact, control and control impact

Article Abstract:

The most important sources of biodiversity loss is the invasion of ecosystems by exotic species. The effects that can follow the introduction of one or several mammal species onto an island along with the most utilised methods of control of introduced mammal populations are examined.
