Inhibition of luminescence and virulence in the black tiger prawn (Penaeus monodon) pathogen Vibrio harveyi by intercellular signal antagonists
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on the expression of luminescence in the Panaeus monodon pathogen Vibrio harveyi. The role of the acylated homoserine lactone antagonist in luminescence and toxin production has been investigated.

Evidence for acyl homoserine lactone signal production in bacteria associated with marine sponges
Article Abstract:
The study indicated the formation of acyl homoserine lactones (AHLs) with the help of bacteria that are related to the marine sponges. Even though this method is inclined towards the speedily increasing bacteria, it also shows the relatively high possibility of effectiveness in culturing at least few AHL producers.

Evidence that halogenated furanones from Delisea pulchra inhibit acylated homoserine lactone (AHL)-mediated gene expression by displacing the AHL signal from its receptor protein
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to show that halogenated furanones from Delisea pulchra inhibited acylated homoserine lactone (AHL)-mediated gene expression through the displacement of the AHL signal from the receptor protein. The bioluminescent monitor system was characterized by Escherichia coli MT102 harbouring pSB403. Results indicated that furanones influence bacterial colonization of surface by interfering with AHL-mediated gene expression at the level of the LuxR protein.
