Expression of chlorocatechol 1,2-dioxygenase and chlorocatechol 2,3-dioxygenase genes in chlorobenzene-contaminated subsurface samples

Article Abstract:

Results show that samples collected from the lowermost sections of the reacton columns contain chlorocatechol 1,2-dioxygenase and catechol 2,3-dioxygenase mRNA. Larger part of the reactor columns, up to a zone of 5.5 meter from the bottom, contain chlorocatechol 1,2-dioxygenase reverse-transcriptase PCR products. phylogenetic analysis indicate that chlorocatechol 1,2-dioxygenase is derived from Pseudomonase chlororaphis RW71 and chlorocatechol 2,3-dioxygenase from P. putida.

Isolation and characterization of a new Clostridium sp. That performs effective cellulosic waste digestion in a thermophilic methanogenic bioreactor

Article Abstract:

The isolation and characterization of a Clostridium sp. that effectively degrades cellulosic wastes are described. Specific PCR-based monitoring has revealed that strain EBR45 occurred during the high fermentation efficiency period in the original methanogenic sledge and the strain digested office paper in its pure cultivation system with a synthetic medium.

Community analysis of ammonia and nitrite oxidizers during start-up of nitritation reactors

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on partial nitrification of ammonium to nitrite under oxic conditions. The authors have investigated the role of pH, low temperature and dilution rate in the formation, composition and activity of ammonia-oxidizing biomass in bioreactors from sewage sludge.
