Genetic structure of Southwestern Corsica (France)
Article Abstract:
Distribution of seven plasma proteins and nine red cell enzymes has been studied in a sample of unrelated persons from Corsica for the purpose of studying genetic structure of the area. Additionally, it was a goal to gain knowledge of microgeographic variability of polymorphisms in Corsica. Some differentiation was found and there was genetic heterogeneity between Corsica and other European/Mediterranean groups. Genetic differences look to be smaller between Corsicans and Sardinians than between Corsicans and other populations for which data are available.

Epidemiological transition in Easter island (1914-1996)
Article Abstract:
Twentieth-century mortality rates on Easter Island are examined in order to discern epidemiological patterns in a homogenous community. Modernization reduced the mortality rate, leprosy was the most problematic condition in the early 20th century, and an increase in degenerative diseases occurred due to increased aging.

How many populations set foot through the Patagonian door? Genetic composition of the current population of Bahia Blanca (Argentina) based on data from 19 Alu polymorphisms
Article Abstract:
A set of 19 Alu polymorphisms in a well-documented genealogical sample from Bahia Blanca was analyzed in view of the unexpectedly high Amerindian admixture levels. Results revealed that the genetic relationships emphasize the relative similarity of Bahia Blanca Original to Amerindians.
