Genome-wide analysis identify transcription factors required for proper morphogenesis of Drosophila sensory neuron dendrites

Article Abstract:

The RNA interference was used to screen 730 transcriptional regulators and identify 78 genes involved in patterning the stereotyped dendritic arbors of class I da neurons in Drosophila, to explore the basis of transcriptional regulation in dendrite pattern formation. Most of the transcriptional regulators affect dendrite morphology without altering the neurons and fall into three groups namely Group A, Group B and Group C.

Common molecular pathways mediate long-term potentiation so synaptic excitation and slow synaptic inhibition

Article Abstract:

The signaling pathway in the postsynaptic CA1 pyramidal neuron causes long-term potentiation (LTP) of the slow inhibitory postsynaptic current (sIPSC) mediated by merabotropic GABA(sub B) receptors and G protein-activated inwardly rectifying K+ channels, both residing in dendritic spines as well as shafts. Significant differences were observed in the regulatory mechanisms for excitatory and inhibitory synaptic plasticity.

The bHLH-PAS protein Spineless is necessary for the diversification of dendrite morphology of Drosophila dendritic arborization neurons

Article Abstract:

Study is presented to report that Spineless (Ss), the Drosophila homolog of the mammalian aryl hydrocarbon (dioxin) receptor (Ahr), regulates dendrite diversity in the dendritic arborization (da) sensory neurons. It is suggested that one evolutionarily conserved role for Ahr in neuronal development concerns the diversification of dendrite morphology.
