Histone modification-dependent and -independent pathways for recruitment of checkpoint protein Crb2 to double-strand breaks

Article Abstract:

The mechanisms of Crb2 recruitment to DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) is explored by analyzing the phenotypes of fission yeast mutants defective in histone modifications and examining Crb2 relocalization in these mutants using live-cell microscopy and chromatin immuniprecipitation (ChIP). It is proposed that such dual recruitment mechanisms may be a common feature of DNA damage checkpoint mediators.

Histone deposition protein Asf1 maintains DNA replisome integrity and interacts with replication factor C

Article Abstract:

A demonstration shows the manner in which chromatin assembly factor Asf1 also affects DNA replication. The histone chaperone protein Asf1 maintains a subset of replication elongation factors at stalled replication forks and directly interacts with the replication machinery.

Direct interaction between DNMT1 and G9a coordinates DNA and histone methylation during replication

Article Abstract:

The physical association and functional cooperation between two epigenetic factors, DNMT1 and G9a, during DNA replication is described. The direct cooperation between DNMT1 and G9a has provided a mechanism of coordinated DNA and H3K9 methylation during cell division.
