Phosphorylation of histone H3 correlates with transcriptionally active loci
Article Abstract:
Phosphorylation of histone H3 has been found to correlate with transcriptionally active loci. Acetylation of histones H3 and H4 in polytene chromosomes does not change during heat shock. H3 phosphorylation is important in induction of transcription during heat shock response.

Histone H3 lysine 4 methylation is mediated by Set1 and required for cell growth and rDNA silencing in Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Article Abstract:
Histone H3 lysine 4 (H3 Lys4) methylation has been found to be mediated by Set1 in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. It is necessary for cell growth and rDNA silencing in the yeast. A histone H3 Lys4 methyl-specific antiserum was developed to carry out a study into methyltransferase(s) responsible for methylation by H3 Lys4.

Human Sin3 deacetylase and trithorax-related Set1/Ash2 histone H3-K4 methyltransferase are tethered together selectively by the cell-proliferation factor HCF-1
Article Abstract:
Human Sin3 deacetylase and trithorax-related Set1/Ash2 histone H3-K4 methyltransferase have been found to be linked selectively by HCF-1, the cell-proliferation factor . It appears, based on ana lysis of HCF-1, that it can regulate transcription positively/ne gatively in a broa d way via selective modulation of chromatin structure. Regions of HCF-1 critical for its role in cell proliferation associate withthe Sin3
