Human migration: Reappraising the Vikings image

Article Abstract:

The Northern men known as 'Vikings' were imagined to be warriors and raiders, while many were farmers, traders and family men. The role of modern genetic diversity, particularly when used alongside traditional historical, linguistic and archeological sources in providing new and interesting insights into the scale and nature of past human migration is described.

Ecosystem recovery enhanced by genotypic diversity

Article Abstract:

A study reveals that genotypic diversity enhances ecosystem recovery following an unprecedented heat wave. It is described that genotypic diversity would act in a similar manner to species diversity in order to enhance ecosystem function and resilience, especially in ecosystems with low species diversity.

Molecular phylogeny of wild hops, Humulus lupulus L

Article Abstract:

The genetic diversity and the geographical distribution of haplotypes are assessed to investigate the evolution and phylogeny of hops, Humulus lupulus. The analysis has shown that wild hops in each growing region are genetically differentiated with considerable genetic diversity.
