Identification of Carnobacterium species by restriction fragment length polymorphism of the 16S-23S rRNA gene intergenic spacer region and species-specific PCR

Article Abstract:

The 16S-23S ribosomal DNA intergenic spacer region was used as a target for the development of a reliable restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) diagnostic algorithm and for the design of species-specific primers that are useful for discriminating all of the species of Carnobacterium in a sensitive, easy-to-perform PCR protocol.

The continuing story of class IIa bacteriocins

Article Abstract:

The class IIa bacteriocins are designated pediocin-like bacteriocins, which constitute the most dominant group of antimicrobial peptides produced by lactic acid bacterial. Studies reveal that the bacteriocins that belong to this class are structurally related and kill target cells by membrane permeabilization.

Generation and utilization of polyclonal antibodies to a synthetic C-terminal amino acid fragment of Divercin V41, a class IIa bacteriocin

Article Abstract:

Research describes an immunoaffinity purification method to purify class IIa bacteiocins, such as divercin V41, enterocin P. and piscicocin VIb. The method utilizes a polyclonal antibody derived to a synthetic C-terminal amino acid fragment of the bacteriocin.
