Enzyme-coupled assay for beta-xylosidase hydrolysis of natural substrates

Article Abstract:

A new enzyme-coupled assay for the quantitation of D-xylose is described using readily available enzymes that allows kinetic evaluation of hemicellulolytic enzymes using natural xylooligosaccharide substrates. The assay appears to be amenable to conversion to both solution and solid-phase high-throughput formats for use in gene discovery and directed evolution studies.

Three enzymes for trehalose synthesis in Bradyrhizobium cultured bacteria and in bacteroids from soybean nodules

Article Abstract:

Studies were presented to establish which of the three mechanism for trehalose synthesis occur in Bradyrhizobium in culture and especially in nodules and to determine which of the mechanisms appear to be dominant. It is showed that all three mechanisms occur in both species of Bradyrhizobium.
