Increasing the oxidative stress response allows Escherichia coli to overcome inhibitory effects of condensed tannins

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on tannins, polyphenols with antimicrobial effects. The study of the tannin toxicity mechanism toward Escherichia coli has been carried out via the use of Acacia mearnsii extract as a condensed tannin source, and the details are reported.

1,8-Dihydroxynaphthalene (DHN)-melanin biosynthesis inhibitors increase erythritol production in Torula corallina, and DHN-melanin inhibits erythrose reductase

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on melanin. Results demonstrate that melanin production decrease can be carried out via the use of melanin biosynthesis inhibitors, and that DHN-melanin is a by-product of erythritol production by Torula corallina.
