Inheritance of flower color and spininess in safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.)

Article Abstract:

The mode of inheritance and the number of genes controlling the spininess and flower color of some Iranian genotypes of flower color are examined. Results indicated that a single dominant gene controlled spininess, while flower color was controlled by two epistatic loci, duplicate dominance and duplicate recessive types of epistasis.

Flora-color polymorphism in Ipomoea purpurea: biased inheritance of the dark allele is not a general explanation for its maintenance

Article Abstract:

A new study of morning glory (Ipomoea purpurea) seeks to discover whether biased inheritance provides a general explanation for the maintenance of flora-colour polymorph. No evidence for biased inheritance is found.

The genetic basis of a flower color polymorphism in the common morning glory (Ipomoea purpurea)

Article Abstract:

A polymerase chain reaction (PCR)- based assay that can be used to determine the genotype of a plant at P locus is described. The common morning glory (Ipomoea purpurea) is highly polymorphic for flower color.
