Inhibition of Clostridium perfringens by a novel strain of Bacillus subtilis isolated from the gastrointestinal tracts of healthy chickens

Article Abstract:

Beneficial strains of microorganisms from the gastrointestinal tracts of healthy chickens were isolated and screened against Clostridium perfringens, a causative agent of necrotic enteritis in poultry. It was found that in the isolated bacteria, a strain of Bacillus subtilis had an anticlostridial factor which was inhibitory towards various strains of Clostridium perfringens implicated in necrotic enteritis in poultry.

Heterologous production, assembly, and secretion of a minicellulosome by Clostridium acetobutylicum ATCC 824

Article Abstract:

The gene encoding Man5K from Clostridium cellulolyticum was cloned and expressed to examine the capacity of Clostridium acetobutylicum to produce and secrete a heterologous complex mimicking a cellulosome. The results show that C. acetobutylicum is a suitable host for the production, assembly and secretion of heterologous minicellulosomes.
