Invasion dynamics of two alien Carpobrotus (aizoaceae) taxa on a Mediterranean island: II. Reproductive strategies

Article Abstract:

Sexually and asexually produced fruit set, seed production, biomass, germination and seeding size in Carpobrotus acinaciformis and c.edulis are compared in order to evaluate the potential role of reproductive traits with respect to the invasive potential of these taxa. The conclusion states that both C. edulis and c. affine acinaciformis should be considered as harmful invasive plants in Mediterranean Basin.

Genetic diversity of the natural populations of Arabidopsis thaliana in China

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to investigate the genetic diversity in plant samples from 21 populations of Arabidopsis thaliana from three provinces in East China and one province in Northwest China. The findings show that the distribution of this species in China is a result of natural dispersal under the strong influence of human activity.

Invasion dynamics of two alien Carpobrotus (Aizoaceae) taxa on a Mediterranean island: I. genetic diversity and introgression

Article Abstract:

The invasion of two alien Carpobrotus (Aizoaceae) taxa purportedly present on islands in the Mediterranean Basin is discussed. The comparison of genomic characteristics and the relative fitnesses of parental and hybrid progenies will help to clarify the future effects of hybridization on the progress of severe invasion.
