Reductive dehalogenation of trichloroacetic acid by Trichlorobacter gen. nov., sp. nov

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on strain K1 which is the member of the delta proteobacteria. The isolation results of this bacterium from anaerobic soil enrichments are discussed.

Isolation and characterization of Desulfovibrio dechloracetivorans sp. nov., a marine dechlorinating bacterium growing by coupling the oxidation of acetate to the reductive dechlorination of 2-chlorophenol

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the gram-negative short curved rod that couples 2-chlorophenol reductive dechlorination to the acetate oxidation. The isolation of this strain from the San Francisco Bay sediment is discussed.

Specific deuteration of dichlorobenzoate during reductive dehalogenation by Desulfomonile tiedjei in D2O

Article Abstract:

The reductive dechlorination of 2,5-dichlorobenzoates to 2-chlorobenzoates by Desulfomonile tiedji DCB-1 was elucidated. In this study, cell suspensions of D. tiedji was incubated in D20 and with 2,5-dichlorobenzoates. Analyses with proton magnetic resonance and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry showed that only the proton at the site of the dehalogenation was obtained from the solvent. The results were consistent with the model that did not predict proton exchange at other position but allowed for direct nullephilic attack or direct electron addition on the halide position.
