Lasker's coefficient of isonymy between and within 16 Sardinian villages in the periods 1825-1849, 1875-1899, and 1925-1949

Article Abstract:

Coefficients of relationship by isonymy [R.sub.i], formulated by Lasker, is used to evaluate the genetic affinity between populations [R.sub.ib] and within a population [R.sub.iw], on the basis of the frequency of common surnames, in 16 Sardinian villages in the periods 1825-1849, 1875-1899, and 1925-1949. Results reveal that the values of [R.sub.ib] and [R.sub.iw] tend to decrease in time, and the [R.sub.ib] values decrease as the geographical distance between the villages increase.

Anthropometric changes in urban Sardinian children 7 to 10 years between 1975-1976 and 1996

Article Abstract:

Urban children of Sardinia, Italy, measured in 1996 are generally larger, taller, and heavier than those measured in 1976. The height increase is accounted for more by increased lower limb length than sitting height.
