Linkage map for the Asian tiger mosquito [Aedes (Stegomyia) albopictus] based on SSCP analysis of RAPD markers

Article Abstract:

Randomly amplified polymorphic DNA markers from the first filial generation intercross in the Asian tiger mosquito, Aedes (Stegomyia) albopictus, were analyzed for single-strand conformation polymorphism (SSCP) to formulate a linkage map for this species. Cosegregation analysis reveal the linkage map of the dominant markers under investigation in this species. Further, there was no co-dominant SSCP detected in the investigation.

Identification of Quantitative Trait Loci Affecting Sex Determination in the Eastern Treehole Mosquito (Ochlerotatus triseriatus)

Article Abstract:

Single-stand conformation polymorphism analysis was used to identify and locate linkage groups for cDNA sex determination in Ochlerotatus triseriatus. The sex locus alleles were found to account for 61% to 77% of the species' genetic variance in sex; specific linkages producing more males or more females are also identified.

Population Genetics of Wood-Feeding Cockroaches in the Genus Cryptocercus

Article Abstract:

Eight polymorphic loci were assayed for allozyme variation in ten subpopulations of Cryptocercus wrighti and Cryptocercus darwini. Significant genetic variation was found; factors influencing breeding structures of these two species are also examined.
