Localization of a gene for nonsyndromic renal hypodysplasia to chromosome 1p32-33

Article Abstract:

The phenotypic characterization of families with nonsyndromic renal hypodysplasia, the identification of a locus for this trait and functional annotation and prioritization of positional candidates are presented. The identification of the gene underlying the 1p32-33 link will help in understanding the molecular basis of renal developmental disorders and also about interindividual variability in nephron number and therapeutic implications.

Fine-mapping chromosome 20 in 230 systemic lupus erythematosus sib pair and multiplex families: Evidence for genetic epistasis with chromosome 16q12

Article Abstract:

An analysis of genotypes for statistical linkage and/or association with systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE), by use of a combination of nonparametric linkage methods, family-based tests of association, and haplotype sharing statistics in a set of 230SLE pedigrees. The result provides additional support for linkage and association to 20p12 and 20q13.1 in SLE and further refines the intervals of interest.

The evolution of satellite III DNA subfamilies among primates

Article Abstract:

The evolution of satellite III (SatIII) DNA subfamilies cloned from human acrocentric chromosomes in the Hominoidea superfamily is described. The results have demonstrated that each SatIII subfamily is an independent evolutionary unit, that the rate of evolution is not uniform between species and that the evolution within a species is not uniform between chromosomes.
