Microtubule-induced cortical cell polarity
Article Abstract:
The studies related to cell-intrinsic cues from the microtubule cytoskeleton, which could induce and/or maintain cortical polarity in cells ranging from fission yeasts to human fibroblasts is reviewed. Findings reveal that microtubules could impart polarity by signaling to the cortex through regulating the localized activation of small G-protein signaling.

A novel mitochondrial matrix serine/threonine protein phosphatase regulates the mitochondria permeability transition pore and is essential for cellular survival and development
Article Abstract:
The mitochondrial matrix targeted proteinphosphatase 2C family member (PP2Cm) is responsible for the opening of mitochondrial membrane permeability transition pore. The inactivation of this enzyme is found to be associated with abnormal cardiac and neural development and cell death in zebra fish embryos.

Pax3/Pax7 mark a novel population of primitive myogenic cells during development
Article Abstract:
A novel population of resident Pax3(super +)/Pax7(super +), muscle marker-negative cells throughout development is identified. A demonstration that these Pax(super +) cells give rise to muscle progenitors is presented using mouse mutants that uncouple myogenic progression.
