Mouse chromosomes 4 and 13 are involved in beta-carboline-induced seizures

Article Abstract:

Beta-carbolines such as methyl beta-carboline-3-carboxylate (beta-CCM) are inverse agonists that induce seizures and connect to the benzodiazepine receptors in the brain which inhibit the central nervous system. Beta-CCM increases intelligence at low doses, is an anxiogenic at middle doses and becomes a convulsant at high doses. Observations of the circulation of beta-CCM-induced seizures shows that genes on chromosomes 4 and 13 are active in the regulation beta-CCM-induced seizures.

Identification of B chromosomes using Giemsa banding in Medicago

Article Abstract:

The existence of B chromosomes in the genus Medicago has been verified. Two accessions P1 115365 and P1 486207 were discovered during a routine cytogenetic investigation of diploid M. sativa ssp. falcata. The origin of the B chromosomes is uncertain as the A-chromosome complement showed no reduction in DNA content as seen in normal C-banding patterns of A chromosomes.

Multiple chromosonal banding in grass carp, Ctenopharyngodon idellus

Article Abstract:

Stained metaphases of the grass carp digested with trypsin and restained showed highly reproducible chromosome bands. The banding pattern was specific for corresponding chromosomes, permitting unequivocal identification in many instances. An entire banding pattern of 217 bands was constructed for grass carp.
