New approach for specific determination of antibiotics by use of luminescent Escherichia coli and immune serum

Article Abstract:

A study on the application of luminescent Escherichia coli was activated by blood serum for high-sensitivity and high-specialty assays of antibiotic in solutions. The presence of antibodies specific for gentamicin in serum affects inhibition of luminescent cells by gentamicin but not inhibition by other antibiotics.

Temporal stability and biodiversity of two complex antilisterial cheese-ripening microbial consortia

Article Abstract:

Research examines and compares the stability and antilisterial activity of two surface floras of German red-smear soft cheeses. Results indicate that the stability of the cheese-ripening microbial consortia over time and its antilisterial activity are independent of the ripening consortia.

A pediocin-producing Lactobacillus plantarum strain inhibits Listeria monocytogenes in a multispecies cheese surface microbial ripening consortium

Article Abstract:

Results reveal nearly total inhibition of Listeria monocytogenes growth by the addition of pediocin AcH along with the Lactobacillus plantarum to the culture medium. Data indicate that resistance for pediocin develops in in vitro conditions encountered in cheese production lines.
