Obscurantism to the rescue

Article Abstract:

Pope John Paul II's address to the Pontifical Academy of Sciences is composed of false reasonings in his attempt to reconcile scientific evidence with revelation. There is essential contradiction between science and theology and despite the Pope's attempts it cannot be reconciled through discourse. Church doctrine concerning the Virgin Birth, the bodily Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Resurrection of Jesus and the survival of the soul after death are questions of sober fact.

Theology and evolution in dialogue

Article Abstract:

Pope John Paul II again reiterated the Catholic Church's directive on science and theology, specifically evolution, in his 1996 address to the Pontifical Academy of Sciences. The Pope is consistent with evolving church teaching on faith and reason. The pope contends that faith and reason are reconcilable since truth cannot contradict truth. His approach of sustained dialogue allows scientists and theologians to determine which truths are reconcilable.

John Paul II and evolution

Article Abstract:

Pope John Paul II's stand on evolution is firmly within Catholic tradition and should not come as a surprise to Catholics. Darwinism has been mistakenly linked to conflict between science and religion. Charles Darwin, a deist, believed God created natural laws but took no part in their functioning. Darwin came to the theory of evolution because of his religious beliefs, not in spite of them.
