On the clustered exchanges of the RecBCD pathway operating on phage lambda
Article Abstract:
A study of the clustered exchanges of the RecBCD pathway in phage lambda by forming lambda X lambda and lambda X plasmid recombinants through RecBCD-facilitated recombination, reveals that deletion of the homology with the plasmid from one parent lambda does not affect the relationship between the lambda X lambda exchanges and the lambda X plasmid. Clustering of exchanges similar to that with rap+ phage occur during plasmid pickup by lambda without Rap function. Double splices account for a significant proportion of marker pickups from a plasmid into lambda.

Phage lambda has an analog of Escherichia coli recO, recR and recF genes
Article Abstract:
The lytic growth cycle of phage lambda in recBC sbcB sbcC cells requires the RecF pathway genes, although recF is not absolutely required. A search for analogs of Recf pathway genes in the nonessential regions of lambda was conducted. The results showed that a single open reading frame (ORF) in the ninR region is required for recombination in recBC sbcB sbcC mutant cells. The corresponding genes in this ORF are recO, recR and recF, and the single ORF is designated orf.

Estimating Interference and linkage map distance from two-factor tetrad data
Article Abstract:
Application of the biological model of E. Foss, R. Lande, F.W. Stahl and C.M. Steinberg to determine chiasma interference and to chart distances from two-factor tetrad data confirms the effectiveness of the model in quantifying interference and forming linkage map in Saccharomyces and Neurospora. However, the biological basis of the model remains to be confirmed.
