Organization of the canine major histocompatibility complex: current perspectives

Article Abstract:

The canine major histocompatibility complex (MHC) is important in studying the pathophysiology of human diseases. MHC is characterized by a linked cluster of genes and gene families which are categorized into at least three kinds. Research in the 1990s focus on the distribution of class I genes and their functions, and the phenotype frequencies for different alleles within individual breeds or crossbreeds.

Identification of a mutation in the CHAT gene of Old Danish pointing dogs affected with congenital myasthenic syndrome

Article Abstract:

The comparisons of recessive inherited muscle disease in Old Danish pointing dogs with myasthenic diseases of other dog breeds and humans are presented. It has pointed toward a defect in the synthesis of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine due to decreased activity of the enzyme choline acetyltransferase.
