Population genetic structure of the cleistogamous plant species Viola pubescens Aiton (Vioaceae), as indicated by allozyme and ISSR molecular markers

Article Abstract:

The cleistogamous plant species Viola pubescens Aiton (Vioaceae) has been studied relative to its population genetic structure using allozyme and ISSR molecular markers. The species seems to have a true mixed-mating system in which selfing through cleistogamous (CL) and chasmogamous (CH) flowers contribute to population differentiation and in which outcrossing through CH flowers raises genetic variation and gene flow among populations. ISSR markers have potential for use in population genetic studies.

Combined use of maternal, paternal and bi-parental genetic markers for the identification of wolf-dog hybrids

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on wolf-dog hybrids in Scandinavian wolf population. The genetic characterization of these hybrids has been carried out via the combined use of mtDNA, Y chromosome and autosomal genetic markers, and the authors report the results.
