Purification and characterization of a feruloyl esterase from the intestinal bacterium Lactobacillus acidophilus

Article Abstract:

Isolation, purification and characterization of the feruloyl esterase (FAE) from the human typical intestinal bacterium, Lactobacillus acidophilus was conducted for studying the changes in the FAE activity, which is induced by the presence of a xylanase and identifying the N-terminal amino acid sequence. Results indicate that the structure of the substrate may be responsible for influencing the FAE activity.

Functional characterization of a composite bacteriocin locus from malt isolate Lactobacillus sakei 5

Article Abstract:

The functional characterization of a locus involved in the production of a novel class IIb bacteriocin, sakacin T and a novel class IIa bacteriocin, sakacin X, produced by Lactobacillus sakei 5 is described. Results state that a dedicated accessory protein is not required for processing and transport of sakacin T and sakacin X.

Weissellicin 110, a newly discovered bacteriocin from Weissella cibaria 110, isolated from plaa-som, a fermented fish product from Thailand

Article Abstract:

The characteristics of Weissella cibaria 110 bacteriocin, which is isolated from the Thai fermented fish product plaa-som, are analyzed. The bacteriocin is defined as a new bacteriocin and termed as weissellicin 110 as it has no similarities with any other known bacteriocins.
