Regulation of an intergenic transcript controls adjacent gene transcription in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

Article Abstract:

Experiments on intergenic transcript in gene regulation have shown that the representation of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae SER3 gene in response to high levels of serine occurs but the induction of intergenic transcription of SRG1. Also, it is shown that serine-dependent induction of SRG1 depends upon Cha4, which binds to the SRG1 promoter, and the activation by Cha4 requires the SAGA and Suri/Snf coactivator complexes.

Spindle checkpoint regulates Cdc20p stability in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

Article Abstract:

The spindle checkpoint arrests cells at the metaphase-to-anaphase transition until all chromosome have properly attached to the mitotic spindle. Studies have suggested that the spindle checkpoint reduces Cdc20p to below a certain threshold level to ensure a complete inhibition of Cd20p before anaphase.

A mechanism of palindromic gene amplification in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

Article Abstract:

A recombination substrate in Saccharomyces cerevisiae that frequently generates palindromic duplications to repair a site-specific double-stand break in strains deleted for the SAE2 gene is made. Observations show that palindromes are stable in SAE2delta cells, but unstable in wild-type cells.
