Regulation of the Drosophila protein timeless suggests a mechanism for resetting the circadian clock by light

Article Abstract:

One of the genes involved in setting the circadian rhythms of the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster is partly regulated by light and by the appearance of another behavioral regulator protein. The expression of TIM is correlated with similar levels of expression of the PER protein, but TIM production is delayed several hours after the production of TIM RNA. IN addition, TIM expression was highest when the fly perceived that it was nighttime.

Posttranslational regulation of drosophila PERIOD protein by protein phosphatase 2A

Article Abstract:

A role for protein phosphotase 2A (PP2A) in the cyclic expression of the drosophila PERIOD protein is presented. It is observed that the proposition of the post translation mechanisms that drive cycling of PERIOD require the rhythmic expression of PP2A.
