SLAM family receptors distinguish hematopoie

Article Abstract:

The gene expression profiles of highly purified hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) and non-self-renewing multipotent hematopoietic progenitors (MPPs) are compared to improve the ability to identify HSCs and their localization in vivo. Cell surface receptors of the SLAM family, including CD150, CD244, and CD48, are differentially expressed among functionally distinct progenitors and HSCs occupy multiple niches, including sinusoidal endothelium in diverse tissues.

Isolation of adult mouse myogenic progenitors: Functional heterogeneity of cells within and engrafting skeletal muscle

Article Abstract:

Phenotypic, morphological, and functional criteria are used to identify and prospectively isolate a subset of myofiber-associated cells capable at the single cell level of generating myogenic colonies at high frequency. The clonal isolation of functional adult myogenic progenitors is described, demonstrating that these cells do not arise from hematopoietic or other bone marrow or circulating precursors.

Stem cell grand SLAM

Article Abstract:

The mechanisms and regulation of stem cell fate decisions in the blood-forming (hematopoietic) system are reported. A simple and broadly applicable method is provided to isolate these cells and to visualize them in their normal environment.
