A linkage map of pig chromosome 10

Article Abstract:

Genome mapping has generated more applications in the livestock product industries as a valuable tool for quantitative trait loci (QTL) mapping. Such mapping allows manipulation and genetic variation for setting desirable product traits. Pig chromosome 10 mapping is considered for linkage map development by combining characteristics of the European pig genome mapping project and the USDA map. The integrated form exhibited vital applications for QTL mapping.

Catalase-3 (Cat3) gene mapped to the long arm of chromosome 4 in maize (Zea mays L.)

Article Abstract:

Two techniques were employed in mapping the catalase-3 gene of corn, Zea mays. The first method is restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis of the second filial generation segregated for two Cat3 alleles. The second method involved DNA probing of polymorphic restriction fragments of a set of standard recombinant inbreds. Both methods map the Cat3 gene near the tip of fourth chromosome's long arm.
