Science pen pals
Article Abstract:
Sue Sanders' idea of getting 35 postgraduate doctors, graduate students and technicians to exchange letters and become pen pals of 40 second grade through fifth graders students proved very successful. In the letters the children wrote about themselves, what they were learning in science and questioned the doctors not only about the human body or HIV, but also about Hawaiian volcanoes or planets and exchanged photos, drawings, handmade gifts and valentines with their pen pals.
