Searching for lipid antigens
Article Abstract:
Scientists are studying the natural killer T cells (NKT) cells and their antigens. The two natural antigens that humans encounter, from Sphingomonas bacteria clearly demonstrate that NKT cells are important in immunity for humans and might lead to therapeutic applications in cancer and asthma.

WNTer wonderland
Article Abstract:
The article describes the development and the functions of the WNT proteins that activate the multiple signaling pathways in cells. WNTs are found to be extremely helpful in the tissue regeneration process and hence can be easily used for the treatment of diseases like cancer and Alzheimer.

The role of protein apoliprotein E (apoE) and its involvement in Alzheimer's disease and the way it isoform wreaks havoc in the brain is investigated. ApoE plays a fundamental role in the transport of lipids and in the maintenance and repair of neurons.
