Duplication of a truncated paralog of the family B DNA polymerase gene Aa-polB in the Agrocybe aegerita mitochondrial genome
Article Abstract:
The mitochondrial family B DNA polymerase from Agrocybe aegerita has 36% to 53% sequence homology with other family B DNA polymerases. The A. aegerita DNA polymerase gene could be a remnant of the archaebacterial genes assuming that its mitochondria arose from a fusion between a Clostridium-like eubacterium and a Sulfolobus-like archaebacterium.

Genetic evidence for nonrandom sorting of mitochondria in the basidiomycete Agrocybe aegerita
Article Abstract:
A research was conducted to investigate mitochondrial transmission in Agrocybe aegerita during plasmogamy, vegetative growth, and basidiocarp differentiation. Molecular markers were utilized to identify mitochondrial haplotypes during the major stages of the Agrocybe aegerita life cycle while Apical cells were isolated to examine mixing. Results indicated that Agrocybe aegerita has reciprocal bidirectional nuclear migration like other homobasidiomycetes.

Sequence and secondary structure of the mitochondrial small-subunit rRNA V4, V6, and V9 domains reveal highly species-specific variations within the genus Agrocybe
Article Abstract:
A polymerase chain reaction was performed on 42 wild isolates belonging to 10 species within the genus Agrocybe to investigate the sequence and secondary structure of variable domains V4, V6 and V9 of the mitochondrial small-subunit rRNA. Results show that the nucleotide sequences of the variable domains are conserved in each Agrocybe species. The secondary structures of related species consist of insertion-deletion events that occur in the same areas of the variable domains.
