Size and complexity of the nuclear genome of colletotrichum graminicola

Article Abstract:

The nuclear genome content, size and complexity of Colletotrichum graminicola from sorghum and maize were characterized through genome reconstruction, melting-temperature analysis and reassociation kinetics. Results show that the maize pathotype DNA has a 51% GC content and that the sorghum pathotype has 52%. The genome sizes were 4.8x10(super 7) bp for the maize pathotype and 5.0x10(super 7) bp for the sorghum pathotypes.

Control of Mycosphaerella graminicola on wheat seedlings by medical drugs known to modulate the activity of ATP-binding cassette transporters

Article Abstract:

Medical drugs known to modulate the activity of ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters were tested for the ability to control disease development due to Mycosphaerella graminicola on wheat seedlings. The results suggest that modulators have indirect disease control activity based on modulation of fungal ABC transporters essential for virulence and constitute a new class of disease control agents.
