Sperm-mediated gene transfer: Applications and implications

Article Abstract:

The studies relating to the sperm-mediated gene transfer (SMGT) have supported the idea that sperm cells can act as vectors for exogenous genetic sequences. A substantive body of evidence indicates that SMGT can be used in animal transgenesis, but also suggests that the final fate of the exogenous sequences transferred by sperm cannot always be predicted.

Lipocalins in bioscience: the first family gathering

Article Abstract:

The Lipocalins, a protein super family which show remarkable diversity in the level of sequence and function was discussed at the 50th Benzon Symposium. The illustrious gathering remarked that lipocalin family has reached maturity and should now be considered in an integrative context.

What a difference copy number variation makes

Article Abstract:

DNA copy number variation (CNV) represents a significant source of submicroscopic genomic diversity in humans. The CNV is found to have major impact on normal human phenotypic diversity and inter-individual disease susceptibility.
