Targeting genes for self-excision in the germ line
Article Abstract:
A process that directs self-induced deletion of DNA sequences as they go through the mouse male germ line has been described. The testes-specific promoter from the angiotensin-converting enzyme gene was used to drive expression of the Cre-recombinase gene. Somatic cells from the embryo-derived stem (ES) cells retained the cassette, but self-excision took place in all ES-cell-derived sperm.

Alveolar rhabdomyosarcomas in conditional Pax3:Fkhr mice: Cooperativity of Ink4a/ARF and Trp53 loss of function
Article Abstract:
The first mouse model of alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma is reported using a conditional Pax3:Fkhr knock-in allele whose activation in late embryogensis and postnatally is targeted to terminally differentiating Myf6-expressing skeletal muscle. This report provides an important starting point for understanding the initiation and progression of the tumor and its potential cells of origin.
