The art of the tech transfer deal

Article Abstract:

Industries or companies always pursue researchers for products on which they are doing research and the results associated with the research and viability of the product. However, before committing themselves researchers should place diligence requirements on the company, thus ensuring that the company works on developing the product, and stipulate that at certain time-points the company has its license restricted to specific fields and should talk to other researchers about the feasibility of the tech transfer deals.

Why patents troll threaten biotech

Article Abstract:

The patent dispute of Research in Motion (RIM) and manufacturers of Blackberry has triggered a dangerous call for patent reform that could hurt the life sciences industry as patents of blockbuster drugs results in millions of dollar of revenue, which leads to research and development and the financial gamble involved in drug development. Life sciences industry needs to be proactive in influencing the patent system so that another sector does not sweep in changes that would be detrimental to drug discovery.
