The bacterium Thermus thermophilus, like hyperthermophilic archaea, uses a two-step pathway for the synthesis of mannosylglycerate

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on solute alpha-mannosylglycerate in thermophilic bacterium Thermus thermophilus HB27. The authors report that biosynthetic pathway for the synthesis of this alpha-mannosylglycerate has been identified via the studies of activities of recombinant mannosyl-3-phosphoglycerate synthase and mannosyl-3-phosphoglycerate phosphatase.

Genes involved in the biosynthesis of photosynthetic pigments in the purple sulfur photosynthetic bacterium Thiocapsa roseopersicina

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on purple sulfur photosynthetic bacterium Thiocapsa roseopersicina. The authors describe the isolation and genetic analysis of T. roseopersicina mutant strain with changed carotenoid content, and the characterization of the genes involved in pigment biosynthesis.

Transposon mutagenesis in purple sulfur photosynthetic bacteria: identification of hypF, encoding a protein capable of processing [NiFe] hydrogenases in alpha, beta, and gamma subdivisons of the Proteobacteria

Article Abstract:

Researchers created a mutant of the purple photosynthetic bacterium Thiocapsa roseopersicina BBS that might be used in biohydrogen-producing systems. The mutation is in a gene whose product has high sequence similarity to HypF bacterial proteins.
