The extent of natural cross-polination in wild soybean (Glycine soja)

Article Abstract:

Enzymatic analysis and electrophoretic resolution of seed proteins derived from four populations of Glycine soja were done to determine the extent of natural cross-pollination in the soybean species. The results demonstrated the existence of 16 putative loci, six of which were monomorphic in all the populations tested while 10 showed within-population genetic variations. There was also an observed high rate of multilocus outcrossing among the four populations.

Comparison of genetic diversity between Cunninghamia konishii and C. lanceolata

Article Abstract:

Genetic diversity and differentiation among five geographic regions of Cunninghamia konishii were studied utilizing young shoots of 120 clones as materials. Considering C. konishii and C. lanceolata as one panmistic population each, the expected heterozygosity was 0.251 and 0.343, respectively. Other genetic parameters were also consistently lower in C. konishii than those for C. lanceolata. Genetic variation between the two species was only 0.057.
