The histone variant mH2A1.1 interferes with transcription by down-regulating PARP-1 enzymatic activity
Article Abstract:
The promoters of the inducible human Hsp-70.1 and Hsp-70.2 genes, but not the constitutively expressed HSP-70.8 gene (HSC70), are shown to be very highly enriched in the histone variant macroH2A1.1 (mH2A1.1). A novel mechanism is described for control of Hsp-70.1 gene transcription through down-regulation of the activity of poly (ADP-ribose) polymerases (PARP)-1 by macroH2A (mH2A)1.1

The global regulator H-NS acts directly on the transpososome to promote Tn10 transposition
Article Abstract:
The histone-like nucleoid structuring (H-NS) protein promotes Tn10 transposition by binding directly to the transposition complex. With the recruitment of H-NS as a modulator of transposition, Tn10 has evolved a means of sensing changes in host physiology, as the amount of H-NS in the cell, as well its activity are responsive to changes in environmental conditions.

Cdc7-dependent phyosphorylation of Mer2 facilitates initiation of yeast meiotic recombination
Article Abstract:
The meiotic roles of Cdc7 kinase in the initiation of meiotic recombination like DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) mediated by Spo11 and other coactivating proteins are investigated. Results provide evidence that Cdc7 kinase participates in the dual meiotic regulations for the initiation of meiotic recombination and then meiotic progression into meiosis I.
