The nodular microsymbionts of Gymnostoma spp. are Elaeagnus-infective Frankia strains
Article Abstract:
The phylogenetic relationships of Frankia strains infective on Gymnostoma with other Frankia strains was examined. Partial sequencing of the 16S rRNA and application of specific primers revealed that the Frankia strains found in Gymnostoma are phylogenetically close to Elaeagnus-infective strains. The strains in Gymnostoma nodules were close to one another, clustered with Elaeagnus-infective strains, and distantly related to Casuarina and Alnus-infective strains.

Identification of bacteria in pasteurized zucchini purees stored at different temperatures and comparison with those found in other pasteurized vegetable purees
Article Abstract:
Some pasteurized vegetable purees may be contaminated with Bacillus spp., according to researchers who analyzed purees made from zucchini, broccoli, carrot, leek, potato, and split peas that were stored at 4, 10, and 20 to 25 deg C. These purees are heated before refrigeration but contain no preservatives.

Estimation of microbial contamination of food from prevalence and concentraration data: Application to Listeria monocytogenes in fresh vegetables
Article Abstract:
The distribution of food-borne pathogenic bacteria Listeria monocytogenes was quantitatively determined by prevalence and concentration studies. The fresh and minimally processed vegetables were analyzed for the presence of the pathogen and the infection rates were found to be very high.
