The pool of ADP and ATP regulates anaerobic product formation in resting cells of Lactococcus lactis

Article Abstract:

The effect of the growth rate on product formation and quantified intracellular metabolites in growing cells versus resting cells of Lactococcus lactis and the difference between low metabolic flux and energy limitation are characterized. The relationship between large pools of ADP and ATP and the metabolic activity of resting cells is discussed.

Efficient production of L-lactic acid by metabolically engineered Saccharomyces cerevisiae with a genome-integrated L-lactate dehydrogenase gene

Article Abstract:

The study developed metabolically engineered yeast, which produces lactic acid efficiently. In this recombinant strain, the coding region for pyruvate decarboxylase 1 (PDC1) on chromosome XII is substituted for that of the L-lactate dehydrogenase gene (LDH) through homologous recombination.

Reappraisal of the regulation of lactococcal L-lactate dehydrogenase

Article Abstract:

A more complete model of the kinetics of the regulation of lactococcal L-lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) is presented. Lactococci are known for their homolactic metabolism, whereby more than 90% of the sugars present are converted into lactic acid.
