Transcriptional activation of quinoline degradation operons of Pseudomonas putida 86 by the AraC/XylS-type regulator OxoS and cross-regulation of the PqorM promoter by XylS

Article Abstract:

The quinoline-degradative gene cluster (oxoO, open reading frames 1 to 6 [ORF1 to -6], qorMSL, ORF7 to -9, oxoR) of Pseudomonas putida 86 consists of many overlapping operons controlled in response to quinoline by the master promoter PoxoO and internal promoters Porf3, PqorM and PoxoR. The involvement of a XylS-type protein in the regulation of genes encoding synthesis of a molybdenum hydroxylase is without precedent it might reflect the evolutionary origin of this pathway in the metabolism of aromatic compounds.

Sequence analysis of the rfb Loci, encoding proteins involved in the biosynthesis of the salmonella enterica O17 and O18 antigens: Serogroup-specific identification by PCR

Article Abstract:

The sequence analysis of the rfb gene cluster of two serogroups, O17 from Salmonella enterica serotype Jangwani and O18 from Salmonella serotype Cerro, and the development of serogroup-specific PCR detection assays based on the rfb gene targets wzy and wzx respectively is reported. A combination of serogroup identification system with DNA targets specific for H antigens to establish comprehensive DNA-based scheme for the identification of the major Salmonella serotypes is aimed at.

Analysis of gene involved in arsenic resistance in Cynebacterium glutamicum ATCC 13032

Article Abstract:

Two operons (ars2 and ars2) involved in arsenate and arsenite-resistance microorganism were identified to complete genosome sequence of Cynebacterium glutamicum. The involvement of ars operons in arsenic resistance in Cynebacterium glutamicum was confirmed by gene disruption experiments of the three-arsenite permase genes present in its genome.
