Two Pseudomonas syringae type III effectors inhibit RIN4-regulated basal defense in Arabidopsis
Article Abstract:
Two pseudomonas syringae type III effectors, AvrRpt2 and AvrRpm1 are found to inhibit PAMP-induced signaling and thus compromise the host's basal defense system. It is concluded that the R protein guards the plant against type III effectors that inhibit pathogen-associated molecular pattern (PAMP) signaling and provide a mechanistic link between the plant defense systems.

Article Abstract:
The reception and transduction of physiological stimuli are important for the proper development of plants. Plants interact with the environment by signaling events involving genes and hormones. The integration of the stimuli requires a flexible expression of genes. The expression of genes during reproduction, growth and flowering are discussed.

Pollen tube growth and guidance is regulated by POP2, an Arabidopsis gene that controls GABA levels
Article Abstract:
Research shows that gamma-amino butyric acid (GABA) stimulates pollen tube growth but in excess amount it is inhibitory. Results reveal that the Arabidopsis POP2 gene encodes a transaminase which degrades GABA. Data indicate that wild-type pollen tubes grow normally by degrading excess GABA.
