synMuv verite-Myb comes into focus
Article Abstract:
Discoveries have revealed the existence and function of a genetic and biochemical pathway that leads from extracellular peptide growth factors to receptor kinases through RAS, RAF and MAP kinase to ETS family transcription factors. The identification, genetic ordering and eventual molecular cloning of two classes of nematode mutants are particularly informative those that caused either a multivulvul (Muv) or a vulvaless (Vul) phenotype.

1abA: A novel gene required for negative feedback regulation of the cyanobacterial circadian clock protein KaiC
Article Abstract:
A study reports that the gene labA (low-amplitude and bright) is required for negative feedback regulation of KaiC. It is seen that the disruption of labA abolished transcriptional repression caused by overexpression of KaiC and elevated the trough levels of circadian gene expression, which results in a low-amplitude phenotype.

Conversion of myoblasts to physiologically active neuronal phenotype
Article Abstract:
Expression of REST-VP 16 in myoblasts grown under muscle differentiation conditions blocked entry into the muscle differentiation pathway. Results indicate that direct activation of REST/NRST target genes with a single transgene is an effective way to trigger neuronal differentiation in myoblasts.
